Grizzly Bear
(Ursus acrtos horribilis)
Infamous in Hollywood fiction as the stuff of wilderness nightmares, the unfortunately typecast grizzly bear is a keystone species in the environments in which it still occupies, and plays a major role in nutrient dispersement and, to a lesser extent, prey species management.
An icon of the Canadian wilderness, the Grizzly bear faces an uncertain future as urban landscapes expand and areas where these bears can survive, let alone flourish, shrink and fragment further.
